When the only solution to a foot problem is surgery, finding the most qualified and cost effective solution is important. The Calgary Foot Institute is a group of dedicated Podiatric Physicians specializing in the Medical and Surgical treatment of the Foot and Ankle. Our mandate is to provide the best possible medical, surgical and preventative treatment available. We have been doing this now for over 15 years.

In Alberta, part of your visit and/or treatment when you see a Podiatrist is covered by Alberta Health Care with patients paying a co-pay for the balance of the fee. If you require surgery, this co-pay can be costly. Most patients have private or secondary insurance which in most cases will cover all or most of this co-pay. However, if you do not have private insurance, you may be eligible to have your surgery done for no cost to you by a Podiatric Physician with hospital privileges. Most Podiatrists in Alberta do not have hospital surgical privileges.

At the Foot Institute we have Surgeons with Surgical privileges. Provided you are an eligible candidate, you may wish to pursue this option and have your surgery done in an Alberta Hospital with no cost to you. Depending on the situation, the waiting times can be long for this option so we urge you to book an appointment so your condition can be accessed.

If you have secondary insurance and the surgical co-pay fee is not of issue, our Doctors can perform your surgery quickly and professionally in a private surgery centre where you will be offered the best in surgical care.
